A frustrated author!

Hello friends,

It's a gloomy day (weather-wise) here in Ontario, Canada, a sure sign that fall is just around the corner.  I hope you are all enjoying what time is left of the summer!

As to why I'm frustrated, I'll be happy to share...

As a Canadian author, I find it difficult to accept that when I publish a novel in paperback, it always hits the shelves elsewhere around the world first, and Canada last.  Not just last, mind you...  It only shows up online for sale at least one week later than everywhere else!

I sell my novels through Amazon.  They take care of putting my digitally-formatted books up for sale online, and I never have a problem.  They are professional, and always on target.

Although the paperback versions of my novels are sold via Amazon, online, as well, the fact they appear late is not their doing (at least I don't think so!).  This is how it works:  I submit my novel to CreateSpace in the U.S.A., who then submit it to Amazon to sell on their/my behalf.  CreateSpace is the only true print-on-demand company (means they will print what you need, so you don't need to buy 500 copies at a time!), but they are not located in Canada.

Somehow, the novels get held up (through the internet?!!) for over a week on they way to Canada (again, through the internet!).  However, the same books will be available everywhere else in the world, even in third-world countries, the day after they are published!

So you tell me, do I have a right to be frustrated?

Thanks for patiently reading my rant.  I feel so much better now!  I will continue to wait (im)patiently for my latest novel, in paperback version, "Look Behind You" to make it to Canada!!  If you prefer to read on your computer/tablet rather than paperback, then yes, all my novels are available at the Amazon stores in 53 countries around the world!  Simply type my name in the search bar (LISE GUILBAULT) and this will take you to my sales page.

Enjoy your day, and read a book!

Lise  :D
