Christmas being only three days away, I wanted to take this opportunity to wish every single one of you the very best of the holidays.  It is a very special, magical time of year, and I hope all your dreams come true!

I will be spending time with my husband's family (we are hosting dinner this year!), and will get to spend quality time with our daughter and two granddaughters.  As far as I'm concerned, there is nothing more beautiful than to look into a child's face at Christmas.

'Very' Good Writing Tip!

As writers, we often overdo it when trying to put emphasis on a word or thought.  The following is a perfect example of that, and a very good tip!

Trying Something New...

Hello readers,

As you may be aware, all of my novels are signed up with Amazon's KDP program, which means they are exclusive to Amazon and I am not allowed to sell them elsewhere for a three-month period. A couple weeks ago, I published a box set of my 'Safe In His Arms' series on Amazon, but decided to not sign it up with KDP.

This, of course, means I can publish this collection on any number of other publishing sites.  So today, I was very busy.  I published my box set on Smashwords.com (Premium Catalogue), Draft2Digital.com, Pothi.com (in India), and Google Play/Google Books.

This change will allow me to evaluate the usefulness of remaining locked in with Amazon's KDP program.  If it pays off, the three-month contract on most of my previous novels will be ending in November, which might just mean change is in the wind.

It's exciting to think of all the stores which will be selling my box set.  Here are just a few:

New Cover Is Out!

Hope your Sunday is all that you hoped it would be!  I can't say I accomplished much today, but a lazy day once is a while is just what one needs, don't you think?

I am pleased to announce that the new cover for my recently published 'Safe In His Arms' series box set has been published to replace the temporary one which I had been using.  I'm proud to say that I designed this cover myself!  My wish was to have something which actually resembled a box set, and considering this was my first try, I must say I'm quite pleased with it.

Through a lot of research, I found the greatest program which allows you to create all kinds of wonderful things.  You may already know about it, but for those who don't, it's called GIMP.  You can download it for free online.  It takes a bit of getting used to, but once you figure it out, you'll love it.

Also, if you ever have a photo which you feel is not quite clear enough or could be of a better quality, you might want to try Pixlr.com.  Also free online, and a joy to work with.  I suggest you download it, pick a photo you want to adjust, and just play.  It's great fun.  By adjusting the pixels (width and height) to a higher number, i.e. 1600 X 2400, your picture will look a thousand times clearer.  To accomplish this, choose 'Adjust' + 'Resize'...

Of course, I am no expert in software or how to use them, so please remember that if you decide to try these out.

Lovely Fall Friday!

Hello friends,


I hope it is just as pretty where you are as it is here in Ontario, Canada on this beautiful fall day.  The leaves continue to fall (and my husband continues to rake them!), as the sun shines brightly.  I'm not kidding myself, though.  I know that within the next couple of weeks, the trees will be bare and the winds will blow colder. 


Whenever I get a chance, I dress up warmly and sit in my swing under our huge maple tree to work on my current project, "A Kindness Returned."  Imagine doing someone a great favour, and having them promise to be there for you no matter what, no matter when.


Then, ten years later, something traumatic happens in your life and that person, a virtual stranger, steps up and saves you as you once saved them.  In real life, such a thing doesn't happen all that often, does it?  But in a fictional world, it can...if the author makes it happen! 


Soon, you will be able to read this fascinating story, one which will make you wonder:  Would you be there today for someone who was there for you ten years ago, someone you only knew that one day, so long ago?

It's a lovely day here in Lanark, Ontario Canada.  The fall colours are at their peak and the sun is shining.  (Below is a picture of part of my property where the colours are at their best.  The swing in the picture is my favourite writing spot.)

What more can I ask for?!  Well, maybe a little inspiration!  I'm trying desperately to create a box set cover which will be a good representation of the three novels that comprise my three-book series. And the computer program I'm using, GIMP, is determined to get the better of me!

At ten p.m. last night, I closed up my office and headed to our bedroom to watch TV.  I was so stressed, I feared I'd be unable to get to sleep if I didn't calm down!

But fear not, today is another day, the sun is shining and GIMP is waiting!  I'll keep you posted!

Good News!

Hello friends,

I'm sure most of you read my recent post in which I ranted openly about the fact that my latest novel, "Look Behind You" (paperback version) was showing as Temporarily Out Of Stock on my Amazon page when in fact it had just been released and could not possibly be out of stock.  I know my novels are selling, but not that fast!

Every day since, I've opened my Amazon page only to find nothing had changed.  Let me tell you, I've not been a happy camper!  I've grumbled about it to my poor husband, I've written e-mails to Amazon and to CreateSpace, to no avail.

Finally, this morning, six weeks later, the mistake has been rectified!  About time, don't you think?

The next stop was to the Department of Motor Vehicles. This process was slightly more lengthy, but she was again greeted by a smiling, efficient clerk. So far, so good! Yesterday, I decided I needed a new jacket photo for my future novels.  In all honesty, the photo on the back of my first four novels is slightly outdated (5 years old!).  So I asked my husband to take the pictures, layered on the make-up, found a couple different tops to try out for the pictures, and the photo session was on!

In the end, I went with the black top, only because I appear to be more serious in the picture.  I will post both pictures, and you can be the judge!

A few years ago, I was invited to a writing conference at Mount Holyoke College. There were romance writers there—me, Judith Arnold, and Linda Cardillo. The other writers were mostly poets and memoirists, and there were a few well-known novelists. The keynote speaker was Andre Dubus III. In his address, he described the typical romance reader as “some woman reading a schlocky romance novel while simultaneously watching soap operas and eating.”

Reaping The Rewards...

Hello, friends!

It has been raining for two days straight here in Lanark, Ontario (Canada), but you'll get no complaints from me.  My garden was starting to look pretty dry.

Yesterday, I did some canning (preserving)...all day!  Love this time of year!  It's when you can take all the lovely vegetables you and Mother Nature have worked so hard to grow, and turn them into all kinds of yummy foods for the coming winter. 

So far, I've canned blueberry jam, three kinds of pickles, marinara sauce, tomato juice, rotel-type tomatoes, spaghetti sauce, salsa, green relish and pickled turnips.  Still to come are my husband's favourite:  Pickled beets.

Just a quick post today.  Marc and I have just returned from his mom's 83rd birthday lunch.  We had a great day.  Lunch, a swim in the pool, then lazing around in the shade.  I can say it would have been much more pleasant had it been a little cooler.  Temperature hit 40 degrees Celsius today (104 Farenheit)!  Hopefully things will cool down before we call it a day and head to bed.
