Look Behind You - First Draft...

Well, I am happy to report that I have completed the first draft of my latest novel, "Look Behind You."  With this one, I have amped up the fear factor quite a bit, while maintaining the gore at a reasonable level.  If you have read any of my novels, you will know that my thing is psychological thrills, not horror.  So it's in the buildup;  I like to get the reader's imagination working.

As to first drafts, they are my thing simply because I love to write.  When I get into a project, I could write non-stop for hours.  Editing, in my opinion, is frustrating, as it is a constant stop-and-go process.  One step forward and two steps back type of thing.  But it is a necessary evil, so starting tomorrow, I will be back at it!

Today is Father's Day.  Although my dad is no longer with us, he will forever be in my thoughts.  To my husband, Marc, Happy Father's Day!  You have been, and continue to be, the best father I know!

Having just completed Book 2 of the 'Safe In His Arms' series, I am working on the first draft of the third and last book of the series. The tentative title is "Look Behind You," but that may change. I will be taking readers back to the fictional town of Elmsmere, Virginia, although

I am very happy to inform you that my current project, "LOOK BEHIND YOU," has been released for Pre-Order by Amazon. For those of you who are not familiar with this concept, it goes as follows:
The author has not yet completed their novel, but submits it to Amazon, who then releases it for sale. The buyer pays in full for the book without first reading a sample. The only thing the reader has to go on is the description or synopsis.

In this case, I have committed to completing my novel by August 21, whereby I will send it in to Amazon for their review. If approved by them, all readers who have pre-ordered my novel will receive it, in its final form, directly into their Library, on August 31.

Many readers appreciate this option as it lets them buy their favourite authors' novels as soon as they hit the bookshelves, then they can move on to other things and not worry about forgetting to go back and purchase it when it is released. Amazon takes care of it for you!

Have you been waiting ages for that Lisa Jackson novel which was due out in the spring? You could have pre-ordered it back in April and it would have automatically appeared in your Library, fully paid for, on the date of its full release sometime in June. Of course, this is a hypothetical, as I'm not sure if Lisa Jackson has released a new novel recently, but this clarifies how pre-order works to simplify your life.

For the author, the advantage is that the book receives 'publicity' even while it is still in its draft form and continues to be worked on by the author. All authors can use a couple months of extra publicity, trust me!
