It is with great pleasure that I introduce the young girl on the cover of my upcoming novel, "LOOK BEHIND YOU." She is my beautiful niece, Mel (Mélanie) St-Jean.
When starting a new novel, for some reason, I always like to have a cover ready to go by the time I'm about halfway through writing the book. I guess by that point I pretty well know where the story is headed and have a need to match the cover to the plot.
In this case, the story is about a sick, twisted serial killer who hunts beautiful, young girls, tortures, then kills them. The cover needed to convey mystery, suspense and fear of the unknown. The umbrella, in combination with Mel's facial expression, seemed to do the trick.
I expect "LOOK BEHIND YOU" to be completed by late summer/early fall and hope you will pick up your copy when it hits the shelves (always available digitally, too!).
At this point, I am seriously considering putting it up for pre-sale. The only disadvantage to that is I'm usually finished writing my novel way before its pre-set release date, but cannot do anything about it until it reaches that pre-set date. Many readers find this option convenient, as they can purchase the book, then forget about it. On its release date, the book is automatically placed in their Library! How convenient is that?
